On Sheltering In Place 2020:
As the Covid-19 pandemic began to appear as a very real and present danger, I couldn’t help but begin to question everything. All of these fundamental truths that I knew and abided by had all been reduced to nothing in the blink of an eye. Time means nothing when there is nowhere to go. $20 in your pocket means nothing when you have nothing to spend it on. To illustrate this concept, I have painted a deconstructed figure in a cubist environment. The clock, iPhone, and coffee mug have all been reduced to mere shapes, no longer clear and void of their usual power. The mask, however, is rendered realistically, representing the only thing that felt real at the time: sickness.
